My true yoga practice began in 201 3 when I first stepped in to The House of Yoga. I initially turned to yoga to help a back injury and I was greatly inspired by the healing tran s formation that took place in my body as my yoga practice deepened. My love of yoga greatly changed my life when I in 2014 left my job to become a yoga teacher. I went to Bali where I completed my first 200 hour Teacher Training in Ashtanga Vinyasa . Since then I have completed a further 500 hours of training in various styles including Rocket, Power Vinyasa and Yin.
My passion is to create a space for students where they can learn, experiment and transform their lives through their yoga practice. Whether I am guiding my student through a dynamic flow or a meditative yin practice I wish to encourage my students to become more aware both mentally and physically and allow students to connect their physical practice to their lives of the mat.
Like so many, Zoshia was first attracted to yoga for its physical benefits – strength, flexibility, toning and a good sweat. However, she quickly discovered that it was about so much more. Over the years the transformative power of the practice has been life changing for her not just physically but mentally and spiritually, too. Yoga gives her a sense of presence, awareness and space, and it continually inspires her both on the mat and in her life off the mat. She is passionate about empowering others and aims to bring her students into connection with their bodies and breath. You will leave her classes feeling energised, balanced and resilient.
Edward has recently gained his teaching certificate after completing the 200hr Teacher Training Programme at THoY and soon joined the management team. Yoga has enhanced his life and career as a performer and he is committed to his subsequent evolution no matter what that delivers. He aims to bring light to those he meets and to work to build our every growing community both inside and outside the studio.
Emma’s journey at THoY began a few months after the studio opened. As the studio has grown and evolved so has she and she is excited to be at helm of THoY as the Leader of Success. With Emma’s background in contemporary dance she had a natural affinity with the moving meditation that Yoga offers. Yoga is a chance to connect, a coming home, a quietening of the mind, for her yoga is a dance that is for no one else; complete freedom to move and express.
Her passion is in bringing that same release and freedom to explore to her students. Her classes challenge boundaries and ideas of ‘right and wrong’, they are naturally fluid and capture the joy of movement.
Aimée’s yoga journey began in New York in 1999 followed by 10 years of exploration, including many different forms of yoga. Upon her return to London in 2011, Aimée found The House of Yoga and fell in love with the vinyasa style and the community focus that THOY has become known for.
Aimée completed her teacher training at THOY in 2014. In Yin, Aimée found the perfect complement to a dynamic Vinyasa practice. In a busy city such as London, it can sometimes be a challenge to slow the body and mind down. Her mission is to encourage students to let go of ‘trying’ and learn to ‘be’ with their teachers, fellow Yogis and, most importantly, their own body.
Juliet is a certified 200hr Baptiste-inspired yoga instructor with certifications in Yin yoga and Nu Power yoga. She is also a qualified clinical nutritionist. Juliet’s classes combine creative sequencing, a strong emphasis on alignment and breath, and a big dose of inspiration to help deepen students’ experience on their mats.
She strives to guide and inspire her students through their practice so that both body and mind are challenged. Juliet’s intention is to help students leave the class energised, uplifted, nourished, and balanced by making her classes accessible and inclusive. What makes her tick? How taking a balanced approach to life makes so much sense – through healthy food, healthy living, and taking challenges. Challenge yourself to do more, to see more, to love with abandon, and to know that time is the most valuable currency.
Nick is our numbers man. Looking for the continual areas of growth in how we serve you excites him almost as much as spreadsheets do. As well as being our Prosperity Producer and Co-owner, Nick is also trained to Baptiste Level I and NU Power yoga. Triathlon is his sport of choice and practicing yoga keeps his muscles and bones young enough to compete at national level in this sport.
Twanine has been doing yoga on and off for about 10 years, but it’s only when she joined The House of Yoga 5 years ago that Twanine felt she truly started practising yoga. What brings Twanine to her mat every time is creating space for ‘me time’. To reconnect with herself, to quiet down the noises in her head, to be present and breathing. Finding yoga and becoming a teacher is one of the best decisions she has ever made for herself.
Twanine’s approach to her classes is to encourage mindfulness through philosophy or quotes, that encourage students to bring awareness into their lives both on and off their mat. She also loves to incorporate music in her classes, which is why she loves teaching Flow to the Beat so much!
Zara trained as a Behaviour Specialist for at-risk young people when she discovered yoga. Zara now utilises the practice to reform the offenders and aid the vulnerable. Zara enjoys teaching a physically and emotionally challenging flow. Zara also runs the The House of Yoga Outreach programme encouraging accessibility and community through yoga.
Vanessa started practicing yoga over twenty years ago while working long hours in corporate finance. Having run several marathons & competed in a number of triathlons, she found that yoga was the key to injury avoidance & muscle strength.
After travelling the world, both practicing & studying many different styles of yoga, Vanessa focused on the relationship between yoga and healing, becoming a qualified Reiki practitioner and graduating in yoga & meditation from Osho in Pune, India.
Vanessa completed her yoga training with certified Baptiste Master Teachers, Claire Este-McDonald & Gregor Singleton from Divine Play Yoga, Boston. She is Yoga Alliance certified in pre and postnatal yoga & a RYT: Advanced Anatomy & Yin Yoga. She is grateful to have studied with some amazing teachers, including Donna Farhi, Mark White, Paige Ellenson, Cherie Lathey & Cal Wansbrough.
Strongly believing that yoga is a life long journey, Vanessa is passionate about delivering a fun & challenging class – exploring the relationship between movement & stillness.
Tal is one of our long-standing teachers, having been with THoY since we opened our doors. She is extremely passionate about the benefits that yoga, meditation, and wellbeing practices can bring, having experienced it first-hand after going through a period of both career burnout and a personal crisis. She now also leads our 200 Hour Teacher Trainings, where she delights in guiding our students and soon-to-be kick-ass yoga teachers on a journey of self-discovery and growth. Tal’s classes and trainings, whilst being strong and powerful, are also great fun. She loves to laugh at herself and with her students. Tal’s aim is to have her students leave her classes feeling strong, sweaty, smiling, and open to possibilities.
Surge discovered yoga back in 2006 during his last months of military service through a transitional programme for military staff. His practice helped with alleviating stress and anxiety, woke up his body and even today keeps teaching him to be in his own power. Before becoming a yoga teacher, Surge had been practicing as a bodyworker and massage therapist for over 6 years. During this time, he supported people with a wide range of injuries, physical and emotional trauma working both from a clinical and holistic perspective. Surge completed his 200HR training at the THoY in 2016 with Jason Pooley and Tal Zalel and continued his teacher training by completing a 35HR Forrest Yoga teaching skills course with Jambo Truong in 2017. Expect deep, powerful assists, informed adjustments, hands on work and an invitation to practice and be in your own beauty.
Sabine discovered yoga when working in a demanding ‘around the clock’ corporate environment. With yoga, she found a unique connection to herself, her body, her heart, but most importantly, to others. Yoga offered this incredible gift to her of believing in herself and gaining clarity on who she wants to be in life. Yoga is so much more than the physical practice to Sabine. It is her lifestyle. Join her classes to connect, play and stumble with a smile.
Rachel’s passion for yoga and community started 7 years ago when she traveled to South America on a whim. After 4 more years of regular trips to Asia, experiencing different environments, she settled in London. Here, she completed her teacher training and created a life away from the restraints of a desk. She is known for her Yin/Yang therapeutic sequencing and is dedicated to giving as much attention to the mind as to the body. Currently completing her 550hr Yoga Therapy training at The Minded Institute, she hopes to work in the area she is most passionate about: empowering those with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders to take control of their lives again.
Phoebe loves sharing her passion for yoga with students at THoY. She especially enjoys teaching the kids classes at THoY as each class is so different – we go on journeys round the world, back in time or enact scenes from our favourite movies all while learning yoga! She brings a sense of fun and playfulness to her teaching while at the same time strengthening and calming bodies and minds.
Matt attended his first yoga class while working in India almost a decade ago. He’d set up a business bringing solar energy to villages in India without electricity, and first experienced how yoga can create a sense of balance in the midst of life’s ups and downs. While Matt never expected to become a teacher, since joining the House of Yoga several years ago, he has become increasingly passionate about the power of yoga, both in his own life, and the lives of others. Matt loves the sense of community that THoY offers and considers it to be a privilege to share his teaching as well as his practice. He completed a 200 hour teaching training programme at the studio in 2014, and subsequently completed Baptiste yoga level 1 and level 2 training, alongside a number of other courses.
Baptiste Yoga has helped Monika to grow stronger, more open and flexible – both on and off the mat. This style of Vinyasa awakens her physical core and soul. Her yoga practice inspires Monika to be the best version of herself, it connects her with her body in a way that feels right, mindful and balanced. Monika wants to share her passion for Baptiste yoga with students and support them on their own journey by creating a fun yet challenging class. Monika completed her 200 hours’ teacher training at The House of Yoga with Gregor Singleton and Claire Este-Mcdonald Senior Baptiste Teachers in 2014 and has been a certified Baptiste Yoga teacher since October 2016. Monika is currently working on her 500 hours having completed Level 3 and Advanced Art of Assisting with the Baptiste Institute.
Yoga has helped Maryann become clearer on who she is and who she wants to be. Her mission is to help others find that clarity and maximise their own potential on and off that mat. Maryann’s aim for her classes to be energetic and fun – sweat coupled with a smile.

Jason is the brains that founded The House of Yoga and is a co-owner. As with many Yogis, Jason’s journey began as a way to heal his body from physical ailments, but yoga means so much more than just the poses to him. Jason is one of a handful of Baptiste certified teachers in Europe, a style of yoga that not only speaks to the student’s body, but also their heads and hearts. Yoga means connection, growth and community to Jason. You can expect a strong and vigorous practice along with some modern-day philosophy to invigorate and inspire you. Get ready for an experience of sweat and serenity.
John discovered Yoga whilst living and working in America almost two decades ago. On the recommendation of a great friend it began with the daily practice of the Ashtanga primary series. Once a day for 90 minutes above a garage quickly turned into daily practice plus a led class, a workshop… and so on. On his return to England John Discovered the wonderful teacher Stewart Gilchrist, who to this day is his main influence and guide. John continues to practice and teach Yoga because of the strength, clarity and happiness it brings. Come to his class with a smile and whatever else you can muster.
Jenni discovered yoga 5 years ago when working full time as a clothing designer and training for long distance running events in her spare time. However, it wasn’t until 3 years ago that she became committed to yoga, because of high stress from her job and continuing injuries from training. She completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training course at Thoy. Jenni then pursued a career in yoga, wanting to share her enthusiasm and the benefits she was feeling from her practice with others. Not only did yoga help her improve her strength and flexibility, but she loved the philosophical and spiritual approach to the asana practice. One day it wasn’t just about what goes on whilst on the mat but she started to use the practice to deal with the challenges life throws at us on a daily basis. Her aim in teaching yoga is to create a safe space for all students. A place where they are encouraged to be themselves, letting go of personal judgment or comparison with others. Jenni is also proud to be an England Athletics Coach.

In our fast paced, very busy lives, she offers a space for students to reconnect with their bodies and hearts. When we come back to our hearts we realise that what we seek is already within. Ben has a background in teaching a wide range of fitness classes and personal training. He has had a passion for holistic health for a number of years, and came to yoga in 2014. For Ben, yoga means loving oneself and loving one’s neighbour as one loves oneself. What Ben loves particularly about yoga is that it enables him the opportunity to promote self love and self care, and through yoga, Ben loves to teach and coach people how they can use yoga to develop physical, emotional and spiritual health. In his classes, Ben aims to bring students an opportunity to work hard physically, in order to develop mental toughness, whilst having fun and connecting with others at the same time.
Ami found yoga as an escape from the corporate world; Ami has been pursuing education and success throughout her life trying to find meaning and value. After a few degrees, many cities and career choices later, her ego seemed to grow & grow and her happiness seemed to diminish. On the mat, Ami started grounding down as a path to self-discovery and personal development peeling away all those layers that she thought was “me” but wasn’t. Now yoga is Ami’s new way of life; it has brought Ami physical benefits, peace and harmony, and most importantly, an opportunity to get to know herself again. Ami invites students to connect with themselves again, be it on a physical, mental or emotional level – to allow them to find their grounding.
Yoga has been a big part of Andy’s life for several years now, but after leaving a band that had toured the world for two years, Andy knew he had to make it the main focus in his life, to manage his body, energy, stress and happiness. He has been a full-time yoga teacher in London since 2014. Andy teaches Power Yoga – a flowing, energised dynamic vinyasa, with influences drawn primarily from the Baptiste Yoga tradition. He is passionate about bringing breath to every movement on the mat, and his classes are fun, creative, light-hearted and empowering. Andy simply wants every one of his students to leave his classes feeling lighter, taller, clearer, happier, energised, and above all else, completely awesome.
